Dear Worried Reader

Here's an insightful retort to those of you who criticize Susan Wise Bauer for including stories from the Bible in her Story of the World series.

Read parts 2, 4, and 5, especially. Then try to reflect objectively before you send your next blast to the WTM boards. If only for my sake.

Alternatively, you could write your own history program for kids in 4 books or less, and see how it stands up to random, anonymous criticism from random, anonymous agenda-packing adults.

Wow, thanks for that link! We use her Story of the World books for studying history which I think are really excellent. But I must admit, that I, too, was on 'high alert' when I recognized bible stories but we kept going and I thought that, as she claims, she provided a fairly balanced overview of the many different religions and myths.

We love the Story of the World series, my kids developed a real love of history. Of course it's a bonus when they recognize various bible stories, because it helps lend credibility to the faith we practice and choose to raise our children in.

Equal opportunity is my mantra.

I like her - I think she provides a great service and we've always enjoyed SOTW. Bugs me when people criticize her.
